CURRENT STATUS: Boots, gotta learn how alpine works. For now this is going in the ice box, and I will try to get a full release of OpenWRT first.
Also I am sorry if you kinda depend on this but I am just one guy.
Day 1:Need to get my feet in the water. Trying out an easy distribution to start off. Gentoo I know and love. And it has tarballs.
Kernel boot finishes, no messages, complete freeze. Removing /sbin/init has causes KP, so clearly it is being executed. Going to try replace it with bash.
Well, that is also kping, Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! exitcode=0x00007f00Ok time to build me a static busybox

Meh, debian's static bash build doesnt want to play ball either. Hold on, is this even arm7?
Well nope, seems dead still. Okay, plan B: Get the buildroot mini fs and go russian roulette on it.
Hi， I have compile several buildroot fs for zero, you can download from https://www.kancloud.cn/zepan/zero_tutorial
Hi,Thanks for the information. I have successfully ported OpenWRT (wasn't much of a port) and I am working on gentoo and alpine. I will hopefully maintain a few good lightweight distros, as ram is at a premium
Hey,SUCCESS!I have booted alpine linux on this thing. I am going to make a halfway decent image, hopefully with all nesscarry tools to get WiFi and bluetooth going. I will publish as soon as possible.
That's awesome! Thank you very much!
I am basing this off the "minimal rootfs" for alpine, which is intended for containers, so it has a basically non-existent init infrastructure. This is good, as I can build a simple one from ground up. It is using openrc anyway.
Unless I can find an existing rootfs for the cubieboard or something. Which will make life easier.
